SC Volleyball starts conference 2-0

The lady Generals began conference 2-0 with two big at home wins to open up Region 9 play. The Generals were coming off a rough weekend in Sterling and needed to find some confidence and aggressiveness to push past their low. "We had a good week of practice last week where the girls came in focused to be better and really pushed themselves" said head coach Jennifer Stadler "It was good to see the things that we had worked on transfer over to the weekend."

The Generals took on Western Wyoming on friday night with a big crowd to support them. "For our first conference match it was nice to have a great student section and crowd and the players really fed off their energy." After being down in the second set the Generals rallied off a last minuet rally to squeeze past the Mustangs. In the third set the Generals found themselves in a hole early but again pushed forward at the end and won the third set 28-26 and took the match in 3 sets. "A first conference win is big for this team but a win like this one showed a lot of heart and character in this team." The Generals were led by sophomore Tehya Ray who had a season high 12 kills on the night.

On Saturday the Generals faced Central Wyoming College. Again in the second set the Generals found themselves trying to play catch up but unfortunately this time they couldn't string together enough points to forge ahead. However, they regrouped and came out more determined in the third and forth set beating the Rustlers 3 sets to 1. The Generals were led by freshman Jody Gallagher who had 10 kills and hit a .600% on the match with only 1 hitting error on the night. A standout defensive night from sophomore Hannah Lloyd with 27 digs also helped secure the win for the Lady Generals. "It was a great way to start conference play. I am excited to see how we can build from here and continue to move forward."

The Generals face Casper College at Casper on Tuesday September 25th and then will be back home on Friday September 28th to face Northwest College at 7:00pm.
