SHERIDAN, Wyoming (August 27, 2018)- Today the women's soccer team reported to their classrooms for the first time since reporting for preseason nearly a month ago. Sunday marked the conclusion of the grueling 2 and 3-a-day training regimen that has kept Coach Hammer's squad very busy for the past several weeks.
After the conclusion of 5 exhibition matches, Coach Hammer is pleased with the progress. "It is difficult to find a healthy balance in your preseason schedule," said Hammer. "I want the matches to be a challenge for our players so I intentionally pick match-ups against quality NAIA and D2 opponents." Hammer's squad responded well especially in their games against Rocky Mountain College and Black Hills State. " We have a very large freshman class so it is going to take us a good part of the season to get a consistent cohesion on the field," said Hammer. "I have seen a lot of progress in individual and team play over the past 3 weeks. We have two very tough games on the road this weekend against Utah State Eastern and SLCC so the team will have to battle."
The Lady Gens face Utah State Eastern in Price on Friday, August 31st. They will travel to Salt Lake for a match against Salt Lake Community College on Sunday, September 2nd.
