Sheridan and Gillette met, for the second time this season, on a clear fall day with memories of the overtime win earlier in the season still on both teams? minds. With conference standings, the NWCCD trophy, and bragging rights on the line, the game did not disappoint. The game started off slowly with both teams feeling out the other team while not giving any ground to the other team.

Everything changed twenty five minutes into the game when Jose Guerrero stepped to take a free kick just outside the eighteen yard box. He curled the ball into the top left corner over the wall and beyond the outstretched arms of the keeper. The momentum started to shift towards Sheridan as Gillette tried to react to going down 1-0 at home. Sheridan were pushing for another goal and Stevie Mott was brought down in the box and the Generals were awarded a pk. Jose Guerrero stepped up but the keeper blocked the initial shot with the rebound falling to Jose Guerrero who sent the ball into the back of the net from close to make the score 2-0. As the first half came to a close, a mistake at the back for the generals led to Gillette winning the ball at the top of the box and after beating a player, he slotted the ball low beyond Easton Hartman.

Five minutes into the second half Gillette equalized after winning the ball back at the top of the Generals box, pouncing on the loose ball and tied the game up 2-2. Ten minutes later the Generals fought back to capitalize on a corner that dropped around inside the box and Nicholas Parris volleyed the ball into the back of the net making the game 3-2 in favor of Sheridan.

The last ten minutes of the game Gillette attacked Easton Hartman?s goal but he stood tall making some important saves to deny them scoring the equalizer. The final whistle blew and Sheridan College players celebrated sweeping their rivals, gaining an important three points in the conference standings, the NWCCD trophy, and of course bragging rights for the next year.

Men's Soccer looks to continue its momentum when they host Laramie County Saturday, October 14th at 1pm. A win would mean hosting the first round of Region IX playoffs.
