Men's Basketball 2019/20 Season Preview

Men's Basketball 2019/20 Season Preview

The 2019-20 Sheridan College Generals men's basketball team will have a tough act to follow after the 2018-19 Generals put together one of the most successful seasons in program history.  Last season, SC ended the year with a 31-4 overall record, claimed a share of the Region IX North title, hosted the Region IX tournament, and advanced to the national tournament.  A new group of fresh faces hopes to repeat that success

Local talent will be on display for the 2019-20 Generals as returner Hayden Peterson from Buffalo, WY, will bring a sharp-shooting mentality to the court.  Sheridan local Tristan Bower looks to have a successful freshman campaign after leading the 4A East in scoring last year at 20.2 ppg.  Jaren Fritz is also a familiar name to Sheridan sports enthusiasts, as Fritz graduated from Glenrock High School, but attended Tongue River High School for his freshman through junior years.

The Generals will welcome in three players from California: Brett Thompson, Lafayle Fuller, and JoVon McClanahan. Thompson was named the Mission Valley League MVP and the Bay Area News Group player of the year in 2018-19, McClanahan competed at national powerhouse Salesian Prep- who went 114-12 overall during McClanahan's playing days, and Fuller will bring scoring, athleticism, and intensity to the court.

Another west coast player joins the team as Marcus Stephens II from Federal Way, WA, will be transferring in from Dawson Community College.  Stephens led DCC in scoring as a freshman putting up over 17 points per game.

Rounding out the early SC recruiting class are Markel Aune, Joe Bielak, and Aaron Badibo. Aune, from Bloomington, MN, comes to SC after prepping for one year at Bull City Prep.  Aune is Kennedy High School's all-time leading scorer after netting over 2,000 points in his career.  Bielak comes from Liverpool, England and will stretch the court with his shooting accuracy.  Badibo, also from England, brings a strong scoring ability and was ranked as the #12 best prospect in England by the Deng Camp.

Sheridan College will open their 2019-20 campaign on November 1 in Sheridan.
